Loved it.. I want to like Octahedron, but for some reason it just doesn't grab me. Most of the platforming to me was tedious instead of challenging. I was hoping there would be a boss at the end of the world but instead you get a new platform and then you are back to the regular levels. The music is nice but not enough to carry the game. This is a really well-designed game. The levels are fantastic, the music slaps, and the mechanics are great. I would almost be willing to add it to the pantheon of truly great platformers. But to me, there's one thing that holds it back: dying sucks. In a game like Super Meat Boy, dying is fine. You respawn instantly and you're ready to give it another go. Levels are small and ending up back at the start doesn't matter. You can die a million times on a level and just keep wanting to play more until you beat it.In this game, dying is really annoying. Levels are long, and contain only a single checkpoint in the middle. It takes a long time to respawn. It takes a long time to redo what you've already done, and it's tedious as hell. Every time I've stopped playing this game, it's been because I died, lost a ton of progress, and didn't feel like doing the whole level over again. This may seem like a minor complaint, but if you're used to platformers that put you back in the fray instantly, you'll feel it. Overall this game is still great. I'd definitely recommend it if you're into platformers.. This is my first review on steam, so let that tell you something about this game.So where do I start? I love jump and runs, I love a creative approach to game and level design and I love good music. Those are also the things I found in this game.At first the game seems pretty simple and straight forward. But the design is so clever, the mechanics so precise and creatively used that the game just elevates itself far above the crowd of "normal" games. Every time you think you know what to expect the game switches up mechanics, uses old mechanics in new ways and makes you approach a problem completely different than in the last level you played.Add to that a pulsing soundtrack which gives you the rhythm to solve some puzzles or conquer some of the most precise platforming obstacles I have ever witnessed.I love this game. I haven't even nearly 100%ed it and haven't even tried the things you unlock post game, but let me tell you: this is a masterpiece. Absolutely worth your time and money, so stop reading and go play it now!TLDR: Imagine Meatboy level of precise movement with the creativity on overdrive and a fistful of LSD in your system.10/10 will definitely play again!. Fantasic platformer game. Great music, great visuals, tight and responsive controls, and a high amount of replay value. Only con I can think of is very rarely the screen won’t scroll until your character is right near the top, which causes you to get hit by enemies/obsticales you couldn’t see.9/10. This game just feels good to play. The music and level are connected really well which helps give each level its own identity. this is a super under-rated platformer, and I definently plan on playing it to 100%. My only gripe is that the starting controls are really awkward on keyboard, but you can chane them to whatever so its not really an issue.. Impressively good game. Simple mechanic that gets expanded upon and most stages do a unique gimmick or design trick.. I found this game to be unique and entertaining. If you like progressive house, vertical platforming and decent challenge then you should definitely get it.. Such a fun game. Improve your marketing Demimonde/Squeenix.
